Taïeb
Louhichi, who was born in Tunisia, studied filmmaking
at the IFC and Vaugirard in Paris. He also has a
Ph. D. in Literature and Sociology. He has made
several short films, including « My village,
a village among an other » Great Price of
the Film days of Carthage, «The Metayer»
and «Carthage, year 12 » (1978).
In
1982, he wrote and shot his first feature film,
« Shadow of the earth » selected at
Cannes’ Critic’s Week. «Goree, island of grand
father» (1987) was awarded the Special Jury’s
Prize in Algiers, and «Layla, my reason»
(1989), which was part of the official competition
of the Venice Film Festival, also earned prizes
in Milan and Ouagadougou. «Wind Dance »
(2003) is the fifth fiction feature film after «Wedding
moon».
